FlashBlocks ML + SWFAddress = Possible? 1 Year, 1 Month ago
I've been wondering...

Would it be possible to combine SWFAddress with FlashBlocks ML 2?

SWFAdress Link
http://www.asual.com/swfaddress/

I'm just curious.

It would be cool to do "deep linking" on FlashBlocks ML concatenating xml values... to be able to display a specific page or info on the site just by typing a direct URL on the address bar.

Another idea ...
Maybe one could extend that "deep linking" capability to work in conjunction with MySQL data extracted with PHP as XML.

I hope I'm not exagerating.

Hi

Just curious, by using the swfAddress thingy that
"enables search engine indexing for deep Flash links"
( from http://www.asual.com/swfaddress/ )
,how would this effect search engine optimization?

I understand that because the data, created by FB is xml, search engines can read it, but how does that tie it to individual "HTML" pages from each menu section/page?

Hope this makes sense, as there are holes in my knowledge base

Regards

UB

For Flash SEO, I will often include the Flashblocks ML data file(s), within a Flash movie's HTML, between the noscript tags. I will include this data with PHP includes or HTML iframes. This allows for general Flash SEO for the entire Flash site.

This would be entirely possible, using swfAddress to included a separate data file for each swfAddress link, in the Flash movie. Of course you would need to set up your Flash movie to use multiple data files; one for each link.

Yes, a number of us use swfAddress and Flashblocks ML together. I'm sure that you would be able to use loadMove to load additional swfs into a main Flash movie.

Hi all, Im getting my head round swfAddress, or trying to...

One quick question.

The link you used to example deep linking

http://soular.us/#/music/

When I tried it, the browser just went to the intro/home page (with the ipod) not the music page.

Is this their(solars) bad? or a general problem with swfAddress/flashblocks?

I've tried it in IE and Firefox, with the site cached and without, but the same thing each time

I've seen the standard swfAddress example site work, but in that example theres not a lot going on on each page, ie components/ rich media etc to load, is this a factor?

Too much information, so you just dump the user at the home page?

Before a deeplink page can be displayed all the flashblocks engine and code has to be loaded first right?

this is normally in the first few frames (your demo site example), hahows does this get loaded, then the call to the correct page?

I think Im confusing myself!!!!!

I would very much like to hear your thoughts Sunny as you to have put flashblocks together, with SEO in mind

UniverseBoy

PS

Wishing you a happy and prosperous New Year!!!

Re:FlashBlocks ML + SWFAddress = Possible? 9 Months, 1 Week ago
It is actually intentional. The designer of the soular.us site intends the visitor to always see the ipod splash page, once. But upon pressing "Enter Site" you will end up at the intended/bookmarked page. Try it here:

http://soular.us/#/tour/
http://soular.us/#/music/

It is actually a very well designed site, as upon entering a second deep linked URL, you will end up at the intended page without the ipod splash.

As long as the flashblocks engine is on the stage, the data file and configuration file will both load. So you should not run into any trouble with swfAddress.

Hi there,

Is there any way to combine SWFAddress with FlashBlocks version 1 for developer?

It seems to be very unstable in either Mozilla or IE 6. The problem is: sometimes I refresh Mozilla after editing the Flashblocks contents, all the changes I made in Flashblocks are all gone. When I tried to open the SWF link, for example: http://www.mydomain.com/flashblocks/website.html#/contact/. It does not give me anything but a blank page. The SWFAddress is working flawlessly in both browsers.

Have you ever tested combining SWFAddress and FB 1? I am wondering if this is a common problem with the version 1. universe_boy posted to ask for the compatibility with flashblocks 2, I hope SWFAddress and FlashBlocks 2 should work perfectly together.

Any kind help will be highly appreciated!
Thanks and regards

SWFAdress and Flashblocks ML work perfectly together. It should work just as well with the older developer but I have not tested it with developer or basic.
