special characters in email component 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago
yet another hello
I'm experiencing a interesting problem with the email form:
I have activated the "System.useCodepage = true:" in order to have my dropdowns work with special characters (and it does work!) but when sending special character through the mail form they only show up when the mail-client is a mac! in the web mail I get "?" and when read with a windows mail-client the special characters are completely dropped!
Any clue?
Thanks
Pascal

Does the problem with email only surface when System.useCodepage = true. If so, I would find another way to work with your drop down menus.

The problem seems to be solved by disabling System.useCodepage = true. But it does generate a number of consequenses.. all data (.txt) being loaded from the server doesn't show the pecial characters anymore! for instance also the quote module doesn't show any special characters anymore.. or the email-error text you programmed for me for the very same mailform doesn't show the special characters anymore ..same thing for the dropdowns that use tab separated text files on the server for its selction text... what to do?
Thanks

The demo site displays and emails special characters perfectly, without setting useCodepage.

Does Adobe's support shed any light on what is happening.

that is the problem! I need to have the setting useCodepage set to true due to special characters loaded from external text files. and as soon as this is set to true the mailform does not send those special characters anymore.
I have seen that you will implement the email form error message you programmed for me in V2.6 .. try setting codePage to true and insert special characters in the error message.. they willl not work.. does that make any sense?
cheers

better think it trough b4 answering! I checked it all trough again and realized that if I do correct (re-insert) the data in the error messages of the mailform and convert all my serverside textfiles to utf-8 I should get all characters the way they need to be... I wasn't aware that once changed I have to re-insert the data in order to have it the correct way.. have not tested it through yet but should be a go!
thanks
